Registering a website on a search engine once its ready, is the first step to bring it live to users worldwide. There are multiple search engines as on today like Bing and Yahoo, along with Google being the market leader with a capture of 80% web market. Google and Bing are two only original search engines which require registration of a website to it for internet presence. Yahoo takes the Bing search engine results as a search base, so there is no need for additional registration there. Google being the market leader, we would focus only on the process for registering a website on Google webmaster portal.

There are two ways of registering a webpage to Google. The old process is one which requires no Google account sign up before you upload a webpage to its search console. But that has been obsolete nowadays and Google does ask you for a mandatory Google account creation and sign up with it before you submit a web URL.
The Google account creation and sign up is pretty simple and free of cost. Once that is done, here are the steps to register the actual webpage.
- Open the Google webmasters page here- www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home
- Enter the webpage address into the input box
- Submit it
The basic submission process for registration ends here in these simple steps. But there is a verification required post this to ensure if the webpage is accepted by the Google search console formally.
Below are the details on how one can check and make sure that this step has been completed at the back of Google webmaster search console.
